Fake Busato Guitar
Fake Busato – As already mentioned in our article on faked Selmer– and Favino-Guitars, there are always type of guys that are creating “old” more or less good or bad made Fake guitars, mostly high priced, and try to rip off others by selling those as “real”. Same thing happens with Busato-Guitars.
Here we show an example of such a faked Busato-Guitar, that was sold as to be from 1939, which was clearly not the case.
The body and neck of the instrument show this fake, even badly made (also see our article on “Characteristics of original Busato-Guitars“).
This instrument has been over-sprayed newly as you can clearly see, which was even repeatedly denied by the seller.
Example of a faked Busato, reputedly build in 1939

The body shows a different form as of a typical Busato of this year. Also the backside looks different as you can compare to the image below (arched Backside of a real 1938 Busato).

The neck has a different form and styling as the originals and looks as it was made from pretty young wood. The more it is missig the typical ebony strip in the middle, also typical for most “Grand models” of this era show it.
The bridge as well has a different form as of a real Busato. It´s laquer looks brandnew, very unusual for a real 1938 model, which supposedly (so the seller claimed repeatedly in direct contact) never have been newly laquered…
The only almost real detail to this, lets say “pretty nice looking instrument”, is its tailpiece which supposedly is a good, new copy supposedly handmade by Killy Nonis/UK, with their original “BB”-imprint in it (BB stands for Barnabe Busato, the name of the luthier). And possibly some well made copies of the tuners, which you can hardly distinguish on the sent photos of the seller.
Summary
All in all this is no original instrument, but the more to distinguish very well by its attributes of fake, “which is just supposed to look like” an original guitar. The seller even again and again betrayed that the laquer “never ever has been changed”, even if intensely asked serveral times for it.
Also the seller never sent new or better images of the item, even if repeatedly asked for it many times. The sent images dont show any tuners or other detailes of the instrument. All these things closely demonstrates that this was a fake and never ever has been a serious offer at all.
